This guide helps you understand what a CNAME record is, how it works, and how to configure it for your hotel’s website. You will learn the necessary steps to create a custom subdomain that provides a seamless experience for visitors and enables them to make direct bookings without additional redirects. Additionally, the guide explains the benefits of this setup and the associated costs, offering you everything you need to know to optimize the user experience on your website. Pynbooking provides you with the option to integrate the Booking Engine into a custom subdomain, such as booking.yourhotelname.com, using a CNAME record.
What is CNAME?
CNAME, or Canonical Name, is a type of record in the DNS (Domain Name System). It allows you to associate a domain name (alias) with another existing domain name.
Purpose of Using CNAME
The main purpose is to keep visitors on your hotel’s website when they click the “Book Now” button, eliminating the need to redirect them to pynbooking.direct.
Configure CNAME
To set up a subdomain like booking.hotelpop.com that directly opens your booking engine located at hotel-pop.pynbooking.direct/en/, follow these simple DNS configuration steps:
- Choose the Subdomain Name:
Decide on the subdomain name you want to use, e.g., booking.yourhotelname.com. - Access the Domain Control Panel:
Log in to the control panel of your domain provider (where your website is registered, e.g., hotelpop.com). - Add a CNAME Record:
Navigate to the DNS management or domain records section.
Look for the option to add a new DNS record.
Select the record type as CNAME.
In the name or host field, add booking (this will create the subdomain booking.hotelpop.com).
In the value or destination field, add dualstack.be-cloud-1295799780.eu-central-1.elb.amazonaws.com. - Save Changes:
After adding the CNAME record, save the changes. It may take a few hours for the changes to propagate across the internet. - Submit a Ticket to Support:
Send the chosen domain name to the Pynbooking support team. - Configuration by Pynbooking:
The Pynbooking team will set up the Booking Engine to display correctly on the selected subdomain.
